SIR,
As a sixth form student at Monmouth Comprehensive school I am writing to protest about the treatment of the elder members of the school.
In other sixth form colleges students recieve privileges such as a comfortable common room, quiet study areas away from the lower school and trust and respect from teachers.
However, our school seems to be lacking in all of these aspects. Our private common room has been replaced by a "coffee bar" which is located on the school stage with 24 seats to cater for the two hundred students.
It is on view to the entire of the lower school and as we have a rolling lunch is often filled with noisy lower school students during their lunch breaks.
Our only available computer area is located at the back of the hall which has the same problem of being disrupted by others lunchtime, making it impossible to concentrate at your studies.
On top of this the libary is now closed, although this is only temporary they have provided no substitute for those wishing to study in their frees. All computer rooms are normally filled with lower school classes...so much for the sixth form priorities they advertise!!
On top of this, sixth formers are further penalized by a complete lack of parking, due to the new staff only barriers in the car park which will soon come into action.
It would seem that the school is incapable of supporting a sixth form, and as it is completely neglected maybe they should consider whether it is of benefit to anybody....especially the sixth formers.
