It was another sunny success for the Monmouthshire Show team as the weather drew the crowds to the popular one-day event.
Livestock classes were re-introduced to the show this year, dropped from previous events due to the three-year break for Covid with classes for Young Handlers as well as sheep and cattle classes.
With marquees for Home and Garden as well as Craft and Artisan Food Hall, the show was returning to the strength it has enjoyed in previous years.
With Joyce Groves as its first female president and ATC’s Steph Harris as this year’s chairman, show secretary Cathy Tindell had plenty of support from the committee to keep the show going from strength to strength.
Champion Young Handler was St Dial’s Farm’s Oscar Coates with Fergus Stephens from Portskewett and native heifer was won by Zoe and Libby Wender from Monmouth with ‘Margo’.
Ben Sutton’s winning cow over 30 months was shown by Thea Woollatt and Beau Cole won best Continental Ram and Reserve Interbreed Champion with his Dutch Spotted ram.
Co-operative Cup went to Agincourt WI, Baking cup went to Claire Matthews, Handicrafts was won by Teresa Bennett, Preserves was jointly won by James Kinsella and Diane Pardoe, Photography won by Ken Panter,Art by Gemma Rogers, Children’s classes won by Ben Brading, Garden arrangements by Diane Pardoe who also took the cup for most overall points.
Ella Major won the people’s choice for handicraft and Simon Meredith won the people’s choice for Art.
