A record number of visitors flocked to the Monmouthshire Show last Thursday (29th August).
The final attendance is still to be confirmed but early estimates put the total at around 21,000.
Advance ticket sales were up 50 per cent on the previous year and sales on the day also saw an increase.
The show's management secretary Anna Williams thanked Crest Nicholson, Posies, Raglan Post Office and the Beacon office for assisting the society with ticket sales.
Across the board, the show saw increases in tradestand numbers, livestock and equestrian exhibitors, dog show exhibitors and committee members were delighted to see the produce, handicraft and horticulture sections so well supported.
The chairman, Chris Ball, felt "this year has been a far better year for agricultural shows like ours.
"The weather has been kind, the support from traders, local exhibitors, our members and visitors has been exceptional. We are thrilled."
Showground director Brian Spencer commented on the new park and ride system used at this year's show.
"Large visitor numbers did impact on travel time to and from the show but the new park and ride system worked well in its first year and we will look to improve on this in the future to reduce travel time to and from the show.
"We are very grateful to all our visitors for their patience and hope that the enjoyment from the day outweighed any disappointment."
Main Ring highlights included the superb Inch Perfect Motorcycle Display (pictured above left), fantastic entries in the British Show Jumping classes and Scurry Driving Championships plus the Monmouthshire Hunt hounds and local inter hunt relay, not forgetting the wonderful grand parade where all the champion livestock and equestrian exhibitors showcased their prize-winning animals.
The Country Matters ring also entertained the crowds with displays from Chrissie's Owls, Usk Valley Gun Dogs and Chris Green, Countryman.
The increasingly popular family dog show within the country matters area drew large crowds, who enjoyed the summer sun while watching the entertainment provided.
Anna Williams said: "The Monmouthshire Show Society is there to help farmers in their task, as well as providing an opportunity for an interface between the wider agricultural community and the general public during its annual show.
"We are very grateful for the support from sponsors, judges, stewards, traders, our members, exhibitors, and visitors, who support the show and ensure its sustainability for the future."
