The annual service to remember the loss of the sixth HMS Monmouth with all hands at the Battle of Coronel saw no less than six Standard Bearers take part.
During the service led by RNA Chaplain Catherine Haynes, wreaths were laid by Alun Jones, President of the RNA and Elaine Colbourne from Bourton-on-Trent whose great uncle, Francis Glover was a leading stoker that went down with the ship in 1914.
The Last Post was played by John Butson from Coleford.
The sixth HMS Monmouth was lost with all hands at the Battle of Coronel. Rear-Admiral Cradock's British squadron was ambushed by a superior German force, Monmouth was outgunned and outranged by the German ships, and sank after being heavily damaged and set on fire.
