A MACMILLAN Coffee Morning held at Helmet Hair has raised £250 for the cancer charity.

Helmet Hair are also pleased to hear the second defibrillator they purchased is to be delivered this week to Handyman House.

The hairdressers in Church Street have wanted a defibrillator since the collapse of a pedestrian in 2014 and Darren Childs has been actively raising money for a machine to be placed in his shop, raising nearly £2,500 so far.

The first life-saving machine is now installed in his premises and all his staff have been trained to use the machine should the need arise. “It has been registered with the NHS so it’s here to be picked up if anyone needs it” said Darren Childs, manager of Helmet Hair. He is also holding a ‘count the spots on the cake’ competition with the winner getting a free haircut.

“We have achieved this target thanks to the generosity of members of the public, customers of Santander and the terrific donation from the talent competition and we will continue to raise money for even more machines,” he added.

To put money into the account, drop into Santander on Agincourt Square, Monmouth and quote “Monmouth Defib”.
