THREE Chepstow School students have raised nearly £800 for Cancer Research UK.
Carys Jones, Ffion Bird and Adam Marsh are year eight Wye House students at Chepstow School and raised £782.85 for the charity which they say is close to their hearts.
The three students, aged between 12 and 13, raised the money with a non uniform day and other activities to raise money for the charity, and were given balloons and badges to sell.
“We all wanted to do something for Cancer Research,” said Carys.
“Cancer Research is a charity close to our hearts, as we have all known someone who has been affected by
cancer.”
The three generous students were keen to work together in raising the money, and came to student progress leader Sara Martin with a plan.
“The two girls came separately, but we decided that we’d go to the head and get a plan together to raise money for such a good cause,” she said.
“All of the students and staff had to wear pink, purple and blue (the colours of cancer research) on the non uniform day.”
Carys, Ffion and Adam presented the cheque to Margaret Fernandez, Deputy Manager of Monmouth’s Cancer research store.
