THE tree was cut up and removed earlier this evening, leaving the road cleared.

A SECOND tree in a week has fallen across a lane on the outskirts of Monmouth, this time pulling down a phone line.
The two incidents happened less than 100m apart on Manson Lane between Upper Buckholt Farm and Great Manson farm, firstly on January 27, and now this afternoon (Thursday, February 5).
And it comes less than two years after another tree, close to the one that has fallen today, came down, completely blocking the road.
All three trees have fallen from the same field, which sits below the Buckholt Woods.
Last week, the tree crashed straight onto the road and would have caused significant damage and injury if it had fallen directly onto a vehicle.
This time the tree has fallen down across two high banks and come to rest in the field opposite, with just enough room for a car to drive under.
However, the school minibus had to turn round this afternoon and make a 10-minute detour via Buckholt and Welsh Newton to access the other side of the lane, and it remains impassable to lorries and other high-sided vehicles.
At least the month-long roadworks further up Manson Lane over the border in Herefordshire, to repair a bank where a timber lorry shed a trailer-load into a private garden, have now been completed, allowing traffic to make the detour.
The tree that fell in February 2024, blocked the road for some two days.
Gwent Police have been informed and have said they will visit the site with a view to getting it cleared.
