THE Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth Sea Cadets are calling on local residents of both towns to help make a difference in the lives of young people by volunteering with the thriving youth organisation.

The Sea Cadets are currently seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join their team as instructors or unit supporters. Whether you’re an experienced professional or simply passionate about supporting youth development, there are a variety of ways to get involved.

Instructors have the opportunity to teach valuable life skills such as kayaking, first aid, catering, and seamanship.

No previous experience is necessary—just a willingness to contribute and learn. For those who prefer to work behind the scenes, unit supporters play a vital role in administration, fundraising, and maintenance.

There are also opportunities for volunteers to become trustees, offering a chance to help guide the future of the unit and its young members.

“We offer flexible volunteering opportunities and full training,” said Commanding Officer Lt Ross Lloyd-Bennett.

“It’s a rewarding experience that can help you grow personally and professionally, and you’ll be supported every step of the way.”

Volunteering with the Sea Cadets not only helps young people build confidence, discipline, and skills but also offers adults the chance to develop new friendships, gain nationally recognised qualifications, and give back to the community in a meaningful way.

Based on Holms Road in Ross-on-Wye, the Sea Cadets welcome interested individuals to come along to a parade night to see what the group is all about.

Ross-on-Wye & Monmouth Sea Cadets provides young people aged 10 to 18 with exciting, life-changing opportunities building confidence, leadership, and lifelong friendships.

For more information, or to express your interest, contact the team at [email protected], or drop by their next event when the cadets meet up in Holms Road from September on Mondays and Thursdays between 6.45pm and 9pm.
