The Savoy Youth Theatre have just finished their latest show, Toad Of Toad Hall over the weekend, Saturday 16th Aug and Sunday 17th August at the Hitchcock Pavilion, Monmouth.
They used the site and asked the audience to move around the outside and the inside of the building, coming with the actors as they moved through the story. They filmed the courtroom scene from the play at the Shire Hall in Monmouth during July and used this during the final performances.
Directed by Samantha Densham, Stuart Bawler, Noni Lewis and Greg Densham, the cast included: Marigold, Meri Serle, Chief Weasel / Washerwomen, Harvey Brown; Nurse Maisey Garner; Mole Kitty Adams; Water Rat, Zach Sheperd; Mr. Badger, Elliot Appleton; Toad, Sunny Mounton; Chief Ferret / Mama Rabbit, Skylar Douglas-Thorp, Phoebe / Policeman, Alice Brown; Alfred, RJ Rawsthorne; Fox, Henry Morris. Bargewoman, Morgan Maddalena; Judge, Sir Featherton - The Parrot.
A review by a member of the audience said: “Well, that was absolutely cracking! Truly one of the best productions I’ve seen in a long time.

“Every single young performer completely owned their role. Toad was Toad, from his expressive hands to the smallest mannerisms, he embodied the character with absolute perfection. Ratty, Mole, and Badger were equally outstanding; their chemistry, stage presence, and delivery brought the story to life in such a powerful and memorable way that I’ll always picture them in those roles.
“The creative staging was a triumph in itself. The choice to move the audience around the spaces, both indoors and out, injected energy, intimacy, and a sense of real adventure. And the multimedia courtroom film? Pure genius, bold, hilarious, and so cleverly executed.
“This was theatre that felt alive, innovative, and brimming with talent. Every single member of the cast and crew should be incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved.
“The Savoy Youth Theatre has created something truly special.”
