Mitchel Troy County Councillor Geoff Burrows was pleased recently to assist in a persistent problem for Constituent "Mick" Williams of Mitchel Troy Common, with respect to regular incidents of heavy goods vehicles getting stuck on the lane adjacent to his home. The inappropriate use of this small lane by large vehicles has been a problem for years said Mick, and made worse recently by the blind faith use of satellite navigation systems taking trucks on routes that they cannot possibly negotiate. "I am grateful to the Highways department of MCC for the signs which I hope do the trick". This is but one lane in a countywide problem said Geoff. "Hopefully, motorists will take note of these signs, but the real solution is for drivers to pay more attention to their surroundings, and less on the sat nav in their cab. "I understand that the situation is compounded by lorry drivers when purchasing a sat nav, ignoring the more expensive Truck systems in favour of the much cheaper versions, meant for cars, resulting in suggested routes totally unsuitable to their size and manoeuvrability."
