I though you might care to let the people of Monmouth know what is going on in the underpass to Beech Road at night these days.
Apart from being regularly used as a toilet for passing motorists, it has now become a regular haunt for underage drinking parties.
This morning I used the underpass to be, yet again, met by the mess pictured and a local resident trying to clear it up.
There were two chairs, evidently taken from someone’s garden as I used the underpass with my wife and dog as we had to pick our way through the broken glass on the ground. By the afternoon these same chairs had been smashed and thrown into the river by four youths who were hanging about there.
This is not acceptable and residents are now becoming concerned about their safety when using the underpass as well as the danger from broken glass and pollution of the river and its banks.
