The Ryder Cup came to Monmouth Golf Club on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon. The rain stopped, the wind abated and the helicopter landed on the 1st fairway close to the Clubhouse. Mr Parnell Reilly, Captain of the PGA, together with Mike Gray of the PGA and Cath Morgan from Tenovus were greeted by members, including Club Captain, David Evans, Ladies' Captain, Sue Edwards and President, Ken Brown (see photograph). The Ryder Cup is visiting over 120 golf clubs in Wales to publicise this great sporting event which is to be held at Celtic Manor in 2010 and to encourage support for Tenovus, the official cancer charity of Ryder Cup Wales 2010. Monmouth Golf Club is uniquely positioned, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, to welcome visitors as they enter Wales from the Midlands and North. It is a popular choice for golf societies, many returning year on year, and for visitors from all parts of the UK and from overseas, including France, The Netherlands, Germany, Scandinavia and the USA. The Club has a well-deserved reputation for being a friendly club and giving a warm welcome to all our visitors; providing good golf and hospitality at reasonable prices. The course is a good test for golfers of all abilities and is "arguably the prettiest course in Wales".
