More than 1,000 people turned out to watch soldiers of the 2nd Battalion Royal Welsh march along Monnow Street last Friday (4th March).

The soldiers were in Monmouth to parade after being granted the Freedom of Monmouthshire.

The parade was led by Goat Major, Lance Corporal Housley and Taffy the 2nd Battalion Goat.

Marching behind was the Band of the Prince of Wales' Division, Fire Support Company of the 2nd Battalion Royal Welsh and local cadets.

They marched from St Thomas' Square, over the Old Monnow Bridge, along Monnow Street up to Agincourt Square for the conferment ceremony.
