Monmouth got a royal surprise last Monday (27th September) when Princess Anne walked through the streets.
The princess was in town to officially open The Shire Hall and Monmouth Library to the public after rennovation works were completed on both historical buildings.
Arriving from her home at Gatcombe Park, the princess drove herself to the library, where she was greeted by Lord Lieutenant of Gwent Simon Boyle.
Simon said: "I think this is absolutely splendid for Monmouth.
"It's wonderful to have a royal here to open two historic buildings."
Princess Royal was then presented with a posie of flowers by Osbaston Church in Wales pupil Charlotte Uttley, aged nine, which was graciously accepted.
