Children at Brampton Abbotts school are very excited about the prizes on offer in their Christmas draw. As well as some fantastic items which have been donated to the school by local business, they have one very special prize with royal connections.
A 3 band stereo radio cassette recorder was donated by the Queen Mother to the PTA to help swell the funds for the new classroom, £1,300 is still needed to cover the cost. Caroline Utting, the secretary of the PTA, wrote to The Queen Mother at Clarence House explaining why the school was raising money and was thrilled to get a letter back offering an item for the draw. The parcel containing the radio soon followed.
The Christmas Fair is always one of the largest fundraising events of the year and is very popular. Father Christmas will be visiting and there will be lots of stalls and games as well as face painting. The Christmas Draw will take place at the end of the evening, the first prize is a Argos voucher and local business including Ross Labels, the Golden Crust Bakery, Toy Zone and The Maltloaf have also donated generously.
Draw tickets will be available at The Farmer's Market in Ross on Friday morning and at the fair, which is held in the school hall from 6pm until 8pm. Entrance is 50p or £1 to include a glass of mulled wine, children free.
