Ross Rowing Club took part in the Worcester Sprint Regatta over the weekend of September for the last regatta of the summer season. It was a busy but brilliant day enjoyed by all, although many were faced with a very early start. There was some fantastic racing over the 450 metre course, resulting in five junior wins and two senior wins. In spite of having to overcome some hurdles, such as a disqualification, a capsize, and a late trailer, the highlights of the day were from the seven winners. The Women's Vet c eight, Michelle Hughes, Robyn Perkins, Kirsty Gwynne, Sheron Dean Lucas, Gina Butler, Chris Hughes, Karen Blackwood, Ruth Davies and Chris Crowhurst the Men's Senior 2 coxed fours Adam (see page 30), WJ14 single sculler Kelly Morris, WJ15 single sculler Rosie Lindley, WJ11 single sculler Georgie Jones, the WJ15 double scull of Louise and Katy Hudd, and the WJ13 double scull of Amy Surman and Ellie Grindle. However there was fantastic effort put in by each and every person, on and off the water, along with brilliant organisation and support for the competitors. The club is now starting to take up winter training, including competing at 'Heads', which are time- trials held over much longer distances, and a number of Ergo competitions.
