Ross Town completed the double over their local rivals on Saturday and retained their unbeaten league record. Although there was no score at half-time, Ross, kicking up the slope, had had the greater control and went close on a number of occasions; Justin Halfpenny hit the post, Dewi Stuart shot narrowly wide, and Spud Jenkins was well placed to head in from a right wing centre but Halfpenny, not knowing his captain was better placed, got his head to the ball and lifted it over the bar. Manager Adam Bridges' half-time rollocking of his men paid off after four minutes of the restart. Spud Jenkins, who again had a fine fiery game, contesting mid-field with Weston's tall captain, and ex-Ross man, Alex Brown, bombed forward in the inside right position, and his pacy centre was met by the head of the leaping Halfpenny, the ball hitting the top right hand corner of the net. Town kept up the pressure, but it wasn't until the 65th minute that Dewi Stuart fired in hard and low to make it 2 - 0. Weston pulled one back on 75 minutes when keeper Dan Morris was unable to hold on to a lofted centre, and the ball fell to a lurking Weston striker. Town replied swiftly. One minute later, substiute Liam Parry, latched on to a rebound from the keeper's save and made it 3 - 1. Ross Town : Dan Morris, Casey Morgan, Greg Burford, Ainsley Jones, (sub Ben Timmins), Shaun Aston, Spud Jenkins, Paul Burnham, Aiden Cook, (sub John Tookey), Lee Walker, Dewi Stuart, Justin Halfpenny. Next Saturday Ross Town are at home to Holme Lacy, kick off 2.30pm.
