A number of classic vehicles will be setting out on Friday, April 18th, from the Yew Tree Inn in Peterstow on a marathon journey of over 1,400 miles to John O'Groats and back at 9 am. The route chosen will entail travelling on 'A' and 'B' class roads for the entire distance without going on any motorways and will take seven days in total. These vehicles, some of which are pictured, date back to the 1950's and all have been renovated by their owners. The aim of the Road Run is to raise a significant sum of money to help the work of Macmillan Cancer Support in Herefordshire, and the Ross Community Hospital League of Friends. The group are raising sponsorship individually and from local businesses and are all giving up a considerable amount of time and effort to support these two worthwhile charities in their work locally. The work undertaken by these charities makes services available, over and above that which is provided directly by the NHS, enabling treatment to be given locally and therefore reducing the need to travel many miles to the nearest provision. If you feel able to sponsor us in this substantial effort and therefore to directly help the charities to provide these irreplaceable services to the local population, then please send cheques payable to CVRR to CVRR, c/o Blenheim Cottage, Peterstow, Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, HR9 6LE.
