A WYE Valley entrepreneur has showcased her award-winning women's urinals on Dragons' Den.

Peequal is the brainchild of Amber Probyn, 28, from Ross and business partner Hazel McShane, 30, from Norfolk.

Designed to help ease the queuing for women’s loos at events like music festivals, they were made an offer on the show by Deborah Meaden.

But ultimately they decided to flush their deal away, Amber telling BBC West Midlands: “It wasn't right for us to take the investment in terms of our finances and the Dragons ask for a lot more equity than other investors might who aren't on the TV.

"So in terms of business strategy, we felt that decision was right for us. But we're really glad we took a deal on the show as it's meant it has validated such an important product."

Their urinals were at 34 events this year – including the London Marathon, Reading and Leeds Festivals and Brighton Pride.

The stars of Dragons’ Den decide whether to spend a penny on a women’s urinal startup in the forthcoming episode.

Amber said: “They all popped a squat to see how the toilets work - which was amazing.

“I used to watch the programme all the time, but I definitely never thought I'd be on it. It was such an amazing experience.

“Women queue for an hour longer than men each day at festivals. Our urinals are all about pee-equality.”

The open-air toilets are designed to be used while squatting and, according to the duo, are three times faster to use than traditional portable toilets.

"Men obviously have male urinals, as well as portable toilets, so this is the sort of fast-track lane for the ladies," Probyn said.

"We don't have to wait anymore. It's all about giving women choice and providing a facility that is clean and hygienic, and really fast."
