THE 19th annual general meeting of The Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club was held in the Orangery of The Hendre House.

The meeting began with Mrs Williams reading the owners' statement. Members were informed that it had been the worst year for closures since the club opened in 1982. Members were also told about the continuing plans for the house and were informed that all evening meals would be taken in the mansion from the summer. Membership in the year had increased by 31 and there is potential for 14 further members. The statement ended with the reporting of the fee structure for 2001.

Before handing the captaincy over to Mr Alan Kirkham, outgoing Captain Mr Nigel James reflected on the past year. He said how much he had enjoyed his year as Captain of The Rolls and hoped that everyone had enjoyed the social and fun golf events. He paid tribute to Mrs Sandra Orton and Mrs Linda Williams of The Rolls management and paid a particular tribute to his Ladies' Captain, Mrs Ann Wigmore. He thanked the Members' Committee for their support and the membership as a whole.

Mr Kirkham ended his address by saying he was looking forward to working with Ladies' Captain Mrs Sylvia Curphey and Seniors' Captain Mr Paul Jefferis.
