A collection of Wright Bros aviation photographs, requested for viewing by Charles Rolls in 1908, are up for sale at a Bristol auction house.
Paul Fraser Collectibles is conducting the sale of seven very rare, original black and white photographs showing Wilbur Wright's first European flight at Le Mans, France, on 8th August 1908.
Rolls, whose family home was at The Hendre, Monmouth, requested the pictures following his first airplane flight with Wilbur Wright on 8th October 1908.
He went on to purchase a Wright Flyer and it was in this plane that he met his early demise in 1910 at the age of 32.
His bi-plane broke up in mid-air in Bournemouth and he became the first man ever killed in an aircraft accident in Britain.
Also included in the lot is the original addressed envelope used to post the collection of photographs to Charles Rolls and a copy of his personal account of his first flight 'An Aeroplane Flight With Wilbur Wright'.
The collection is priced at £4,950.
