A Monmouth rowing coach has been named Coach of the Year by Wales Rowing.
Back in July, the coaching success of Robin Fletcher was acknowledged when he coached the Welsh Men's Junior Rowing Squad to an historic victory at the Home International Regatta in Cork, beating every crew from England, Scotland and Ireland.
This was the first time in over 50 years that any Welsh rowing squad had won an international team trophy at this event.
Wales Rowing (the national governing body for rowing across Wales) recognised Robin's contribution to this outstanding achievement when they named him Coach of the Year but that wasn't the only award for Robin on the night.
He thought all of his Christmases had come at once at the awards ceremony when he was also part of the Coaching Team of the Year and was head coach of the Team of the Year.
Robin began his coaching career at Ross Rowing Club before moving onto Monmouth School as Boat House manager and coach.
Three years ago he was approached by the Welsh Rowing International Committee to join their team of coaches, recently taking the position of head coach of the Welsh Men's Junior squad.
