Sir,

I wish to reply to the letter in last week's Beacon entitled 'Have residents been forgotten?'

I can assure your readers that the residents at Trevor Bowen Court have not been forgotten and that Monmouthshire Housing Association (MHA) has made a commitment to the residents that they will only move out of Trevor Bowen Court when appropriate and suitable accommodation that they are happy to move to becomes available.

We understand that this is a stressful time for residents at the scheme and that is why both they and their families are fully supported through the process by a dedicated liaison officer who arranges the removals, provides new carpets, curtains and redecoration where necessary and assists with post redirection and energy suppliers.

The reason we are emptying Trevor Bowen Court is that MHA is committed to rebuilding accommodation on the site that is of a much higher standard.

In addition, MHA has assured all existing residents that there will be accommodation for them on the redeveloped site should they wish to return.

David Morris

(Director of housing and communities, MHA)
