Sunday 12th November is Remembrance Sunday and the Royal British Legion are once again organising the parade and service on behalf of Monmouth Town Council.
Organisations invited to take part will be meeting at Castle Square, where the parade will leave at 10.40am. The parade will then walk to Agincourt Square along Priory Street and Monk Street.
The Service of Remembrance and the two minutes silence will take place in St James’ Square at the war memorial.
Everyone is welcome to watch along the route and attend the service, from the pavement areas in St James’ Square.
A further service will then be held at the Priory Church of St Mary the Virgin. A shorter parade will march back to the castle afterwards.
Temporary road closures will be in place during this time to ensure the safety of parade participants and spectators alike. The order allows for road closures from 10am until 12.30pm, although this may not be enforced for the entire time.
The roads affected will be Castle Hill, Agincourt Square, Priory Street, Monk Street, Whitecross Street, St James’ Square, St Mary’s Street and St James’ Street.
Residents and businesses in these areas, as well as any traffic delayed on the day, are respectfully asked for their patience and respect for the occasion.
It would also be very much appreciated please, if just for the morning, vehicles do not park in St James’ Square.
