Laura Anne Jones MS, Senedd Member for South Wales East, made it absolutely clear in the Senedd last week that under a future Reform Welsh Government, the NHS in Wales will remain free at the point of delivery, and free prescriptions will also stay in place.

Ms Jones said she felt it necessary to underline this commitment, to stop misinformation being spread by other parties, who are attempting to mislead voters about Reform UK's policies. She emphasised that Reform's position has never changed, and that the NHS in Wales will always remain free to access.

Laura Anne Jones MS said: "Let me be clear: Reform UK would keep NHS Wales as it is - free at the point of delivery - and free prescriptions would remain just that, free. Any claims to the contrary are simply false.

Our NHS belongs to the people of Wales. It must remain accessible to all, and Reform UK will ensure that it does."

While reaffirming this commitment, Ms Jones also highlighted the desperate need for reform of the health service to tackle record waiting lists, which are leaving thousands of patients in pain for months or even years. She pointed out that despite additional funding announced by the Welsh Government, many patients will still be waiting up to two years for vital treatment.

"That is simply not good enough. Patients deserve timely treatment, not years of pain and uncertainty. Reform would redirect money from needless layers of bureaucracy, back into the clinical side of the health service, bringing back Matrons, those respected, authoritative and accountable figure heads, who will get our NHS back to basics and restore high standards." she said.

Reform UK has proposed potential additional measures such as private or voucher-based schemes to give patients more choice, ensure patients are seen quickly and to help reduce pressure on the NHS. These would sit alongside the existing system - not replace it, which would mean that those who want to be treated more quickly have the option to do so, with the local Heath Board picking up the bill, ensuring the NHS remains free and accessible to everyone.

Laura Anne Jones added: "The reality is that Labour's mismanagement has left Wales with some of the worst waiting lists in the UK. Reform UK is the only party prepared to be honest about the scale of the crisis, and to put money in the right places and put forward practical solutions that protect the NHS, support staff, and give patients the choice they deserve."
