REDBROOK’S Live on the Wye weekend enjoyed mainly fine weather over 2nd and 3rd June as more than 900 festival-goers packed into the village.
The scenic river-side festival, sponsored by the Monmouthshire Beacon, celebrated its eighth year with record attendance starting with a packed-out fringe festival on the Friday night, and a full festival field for the main day on Saturday. An impressive line-up of 14 artists brought people from all over Wales, the South West and Midlands, with attendees from as far a way as
Scotland!
Warm sunny weather ensured record bar and food takings, as the event raised more money than ever for community initiatives and charitable donations.
The vast array of children’s activities in the Live on the Wye ‘Imaginarium’ kept the younger festival goers entertained all day and into the night, while parents enjoyed real ales, Pimms and locally-sourced food.
Organiser Terry Dixon said: “The feedback has been resoundingly positive for all aspects of the festival, especially the diverse music on offer.
“The festival was brought to a scorching ska-filled close by headliners ‘Guns of Navarone,’ we didn’t see anyone not dancing!
“All the organisers would like to thank everyone who attended, the volunteers who worked so hard on the day and all the sponsors who made the day possible. The work now starts to make Live on the Wye 2018 even bigger and better!”
