New father Josh Hopkins from Raglan returned recently from performing at Eton Dorney, the site of the Olympic rowing.

Josh, 23, was secretly nominated by his girlfriend Katie Garn to perform at the prolific venue, which houses 25,000 people, and was later short-listed and chosen to perform to thousands at nine different gigs.

"This is my biggest gig so far, it is definitely an honour to play to that many people," he said.

"Since playing, my profile has been boosted. My Facebook and Soundcloud pages have gone crazy".

Josh, who has a nine-month-old son who he described as "my equivalent of a gold medal", is a singer-songwriter who has been building up his music portfolio for several years.

Composing folk songs with a reggae twist, he plays mainly acoustic music, and performed at the Olympic venue along with 11 variety acts.

Despite staying on the grounds of Windsor Castle and performing in one of its buildings, as well as performing for the French team and gathering lots of autographs, Josh describes the highlight of the experience as singing outside one day for the children present, and watching them dance to his music.

"I am honoured to have been given the chance to play my music to thousands and at such a memorable event for our country; it's something I will never forget".
