OVER £1,500 was raised at a Promise Auction organised by Raglan’s Raise the Roof committee and held at The Beaufort, Raglan, on Saturday.

Promises ranged from a week’s stay in a holiday cottage in Cornwall to lunch and a tour of the Welsh Assembly; from offers of ironing to a chimney sweep! For sports fans, there was the opportunity to buy a Welsh international football shirt, signed by Aaron Ramsey, and a set of Welsh World Cup rugby programmes signed by Eddie Butler.

Local auctioneer Keith Spencer was on top form, ensuring each promise realised a good price.

A delicious supper, with a choice of coq au vin or beef bourguignon, added to the evening’s enjoyment.

The Raise the Roof committee would like to thank everyone who supported the event and donated so generously, with special thanks to Keith Spencer and The Beaufort.

Forthcoming events include coffee, cake and chatter at St Cadoc’s Church on 14th November and a Christmas tree exhibition and bauble sale on 11th, 12th and 13th December.
