TRIBUTES have started to flow for Raglan’s oldest born resident who passed away on Monday 5th February.

Margaret Williams was 99 and had lived in the village’s Castle Street for much of her life before moving to the Gibraltar Care Village in more recent years.

Monmouth’s Assembly Member Nick Ramsay paid tribute to her saying: “I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my former neighbour and friend, Margaret Williams.

“Margaret was one of a kind.

“She was generous, knowledgeable and always good company over a pot of tea.

“She had lived in Raglan for most of her life and there was very little she did not know about the village or its past.

“I will always remember the wonderful stories of her time working in Raglan Post Office and also her time spent serving in the local Women’s Land Army.

“Margaret will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with her family at this time.”
