A RAGLAN doctor is hanging up her stethoscope after over 20 years of serving her community.
Dr Jane Downing and husband Andrew Downing are leaving Raglan Surgery and handing over the practice to new owners.
In order to show their appreciation, the community collected money for a leaving gift, and held a presentation to say thank you.
At the event held last Wednesday afternoon, people from across the community enjoyed listening to St Cadoc’s Millennium Chimes, followed by a presentation to Dr Downing and practice manager Andrew Downing, then tea and cakes.
The presentation was made by Pete Williams (Vice Chair, Raglan Community Council) and local resident Colonel Purvis. Monmouthshire County Councillor Mrs Penny Jones was also present at the ceremony, held alongside the Raglan Afternoon Teas community group.
As a way of thanking the Downings, the community presented the couple with a leaving gift of a garden swing seat and a vase.
