Children at Cross Ash Primary School recently said a fond farewell to Mr Wilf Mayo.

Wilf has been a very popular bus driver for the past 17 years but he has now decided to retire, much to the disappointment of the staff, pupils and their families, who have always found Wilf to be extremely helpful and cheerful.

The school held a special assembly for Wilf and his wife which was attended by parents, other bus drivers and all pupils.

The pupils composed a special song for him and his wife and then presented him with cards, pictures, good wishes and gifts. He will be greatly missed on the buses although it is hoped he will help in the infant garden as he is a keen gardener.
