Monmouth Comprehensive pupils have been rewarded for their outstanding success in the 2010 WJEC awards.

The school boasted three of the top prize winners; Thomas Williams for the history prize, Sian Chapman for physical education and Caroline Hagg for Welsh second language.

Thomas, Sian and Caroline all gained the highest marks of all the candidates who sat this year's WJEC's A level examinations in their respective subjects.

They each received a certificate and prize of £50 to mark the occasion, together with a personal letter from Gareth Pierce, WJEC's chief executive congratulating them on such tremendous results.

Thomas is currently completing an English Literature degree at Oxford University and Sian is studying Sports Science at the University of Exeter. Caroline is pursuing European Social and Political Studies at University College London, specialising in International Relations and French.
