SMALLER community projects will now be able to apply for funding from Monmouth Town Council’s budget of £9,500 as part of the Smaller Community Grant Scheme.

Applications are invited from local voluntary groups and charitable organisations from within Monmouth Town Council boundaries – Monmouth Town, Drybridge, Overmonnow, Wyesham, Dixton and Osbaston. The council will consider the award of grants of up to 75 per cent of the total cost of projects, equipment or on-going running costs. The maximum grant available will not normally be more than £750 and the applicants will be expected to raise 25 per cent of the whole cost of the project or the equipment through fund raising activities.

Projects costing up to £5,000 will be considered on their merit providing other sources of funding the balance have been secured.

National organisations having local branches may be considered, but must demonstrate the project will be of benefit, either directly or indirectly, to communities in Monmouth.

Full guidance and details of criteria and an application form can be found and downloaded from the Monmouth Town Council website at www.monmouth.gov.uk and for further enquiries please contact the Town Clerk at the Shire Hall, Monmouth: 01600 715662.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate that a grant would enable them to contribute towards the Community Affairs Committee’s aims and objectives of supporting and strengthening community participation, activities and events and helping to develop a sustainable, welcoming community.

Closing date for receipt of applications is strictly 4pm on Friday 2nd October.
