MONMOUTH Town Council recently held their Community Grant Awards Presentation in the mayor’s Parlour at Shire Hall on February 9.
This ceremony was a celebration of the successful recipients of the award and the projects that will benefit the recipients receiving the grant funding.
The Community grant cheques were presented by Mayor of Monmouth Councillor Jackie Atkin and Deputy Mayor, Councillor Rob Barrell.
The evening followed a ceremonial cheque presentation, where each beneficiary shared a few words with other attendees about their project and how the grant money will be spent.
The recipients which were awarded this year were: Wye Valley River Festival, Monmouth Canoe Club, Monmouth Male Voice Choir, Girlguiding Monmouth, Friends of Monmouth Library, St James Community Hall and Bridges Centre.
Monmouth Town Council congratulated all of the successful recipients and looks forward to hearing more about their projects as they come to fruition.
The Community Grant fund is open for applications twice a year and they are a recognition and celebration of the projects which will benefit from the grant.
The town council fund a Community Grants Scheme of up to £25,000 to help charities, community groups and organisations with their work and projects in Monmouth - the applications are open twice a year in March and October.
The town council have previously funded musical equipment for local choirs, the running costs of support groups, whilst also supporting renovations of local community groups.
Before applying, applicants must read the criteria of the grants before filing an application, which sets out the projects costs and aims which plan to be carried out.
