SIR,
I was disappointed to read the anonymous letter regarding the alleged 'refusal' of the proposed canoe and training centre at Dixton.
Had the writer been present at planning committee, he/ she would have listened to a debate where all members spoke in support of the scheme.
They unanimously requested that the application be brought back to next month's committee meeting with resolution of a technical and legal nature conservation issue to enable the grant of planning permission.
Far from having double standards, the committee was consistent in supporting both the Dixton canoe centre and the Penallt Farm scheme as benefitting Monmouthshire's tourism and recreation economy.
Cllr Ruth Edwards,
(Chair of Planning Committee)
