SIR,

It's 50 years since Colwyn Sillman first conducted

Pirates of Penzance and I would like to give a big thank

you to him and his wife for the most enjoyable concert,

held in the Haberdashers Girl's School in Monmouth on

September 21st.

The musicians of all ages performed so well together

under his baton and the singers with Diane in lead role

made it an evening not to be forgotten.  I'm sure there are

many people in the audience, like myself, still humming

the tunes.

I realise the months of organisation and weeks of

practice this concert has taken to come to fruition and

make it such a memorable evening.

It would be very remiss of me not to mention the

professionalism of the front of house team who meet and

greet and made the evening run smoothly.

The concert was not only a pleasure for the audience

but it also raised funds for the Alzheimer's Association

and on behalf of Monmouth I pass on our gratitude to

everyone involved.

Counc Susan White

(Chairman, Monmouthshire County Council)
