A Monmouth Post Office is getting an upgrade. The store, at Kings Fee, will open for longer hours when the modernisation is complete. Sue Whittal, Post Office area network manager for Wales, said: "I am delighted to announce news of an important investment in our service in Monmouth. "We know how important the Post Office service is to the community and we feel sure that our customers old and new will welcome the fresh design, modern open plan format and extended opening hours. "This move will help secure Post Office services in the area for the future. "Post Office Local is a new style of Post Office which sees Post Office services, operated from an open plan counter in an established retailer, with a range of key Post Office products and services available alongside retail transactions during store opening hours. "This modernisation is part of a major investment programme to 2018, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see over 8,000 branches (about two thirds of the Post Office network) converting to new-style branches. "This investment makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes." New services are planned to be available in October, with the branch likely to be closing for a week for refurbishment – customers are advised to use the store in Monnow Street. A public engagement finding out the views of customers will close on 17th September.
