LOCK your vehicles and hide valuables.

That's the simple message being given by Severnside officers to drivers in the area following recent thefts from vehicles.

This warning comes after a number of thefts from vehicles. During April alone, 17 vehicles were broken into. Items stolen include power tools, sunglasses and an iPod.

Officers are urging all residents to make sure that they remove any valuables from view.

Community Support Officer Ruth James said: "Unfortunately, most of these vehicles were either unlocked or had valuables on display.

"We are patrolling our local communities and speaking to residents to remind them to lock their cars and hide valuables but it's residents who can really prevent themselves becoming the victims of crime.

"We are reminding everyone to make sure they move any valuables from view in their cars and always make sure you lock your cars when you leave them.

"Valuables on view make it easy for thieves and they can see exactly which cars to target.

"Always take valuables with you if you can, or hide them from view in your boot.

"Don't risk losing your valuables or an expensive smashed window – it's just not worth it."?
