GWENT Police has confirmed officers were involved alongside immigration officials in a ‘safeguarding visit’ to a chip shop in Monmouth on Wednesday July 23 saying no offences which fell into their power have arisen as a result of the operation.

“ We were involved in a safeguarding visit in conjunction with immigration officials.”

“No offences which fall within police powers were identified but we cannot speak on behalf of the immigration officers.”

The Beacon has approached the Home Office for a comment on the incident and is awaiting a response.
