It is two years since the Gwent Police Authority decided to sell off a number of its buildings, including the stations in Usk and Raglan, which were valued at a combined £430,000.
But the authority was replaced in November last year and Commissioner Ian Johnston is keen to review the force's entire estates strategy.
"High on the agenda is the sale of Usk Police Station. A decision has not yet been made but it is not a given that Usk Police Station will be sold," said Mr Johnston.
Up until last July, Usk was open to the public as and when an officer or CSO was in the building.
But its doors were shut alongside many others around Gwent as part of cuts designed to save the force £34 million by 2015.
Monmouth now opens its doors once a week for a police surgery while Chepstow, Usk, Caldicot and Monmouthshire's villages are served by Gwent's mobile police station.
The only station in the county open seven days a week is Abergavenny.
"Lots of people like the mobile station," said Mr Johnston, "especially if you go to Trellech, Tintern and some of the other outlying areas.
"It is in the more urban areas that interest wanes considerably.
"Together with the temporary chief constable, I am having another look at our accessibility strategy, to see if we can open some front doors.
"My view is that in large towns, where possible, front doors should be open.
"It's about ownership. Cost is an element and we shouldn't lose sight of that but to put in a blanket closure? That needs reviewing."
