SIR,

As Chief Executive of the Welsh Electors Community Group I am very concerned at the recent increases of burglaries of small businesses in Monmouth.

I know a petition was handed to the Town Council earlier this year, urging that the CCTV cameras should once again be made operational.

Other towns in Monmouthshire have CCTV cameras, which play an important part in the fight against crime.

People ask me why Monmouth does not have the cameras, while other towns do.

There is also concern that the town's police station may be closed in 2012.

The Town Council is there to take decisions for the good of the people of Monmouth, the people they have been elected to represent. They should always remember that fact.

In the meantime, I will be writing to the Welsh Assembly Government to express my concern at this situation and will also be meeting Mr Dereck Rowe, the UKIP Parliamentary candidate for Monmouth.
