A NEW hotel and spa could be built on Hadnock Road.

Plans to create a premium hotel exclusively for adults, with 55 studios and five suites as well as a state-of-the-art destination spa are to be exhibited at the Shire Hall next month.

Alchemy Hospitality Management Ltd is holding a public exhibition on Saturday 7th February to present its plans for a unique hotel and spa at the Valley Enterprise Park on Hadnock Road, Monmouth.

The 11 acre brownfield site was used by Castle Corrugated for the manufacturing and storage of packaging materials for more than 20 years, employing 150 people at its peak in the 1990s.

In addition to a premium hotel with 55 studios and five suites, the development would include a restaurant, lounge and bar and a 40-seat luxury cinema.

Developers claim the hotel could great 180 full-time jobs.

The destination spa would include a comprehensive range of relaxation facilities, which would include:

• A state-of-the-art workout studio and class studios

• Spa pools – hydro, relax, lap and class pool, and spa garden hot pool, sauna and feature wood fire

• Spa clinic with 12 treatment rooms

• Fire and ice experiences which could include sauna and steam rooms, cold plunge pools, tepidarium, salt inhalation and aroma rooms and a rasul mud suite and ice cave

• External facilities could include tennis and boules courts.

Jan Kitcher, managing director of Alchemy Hospitality Management Ltd, said: "This is a really exciting project, and we are looking forward to hearing people's views on our proposals. The hotel and spa would create jobs and business opportunities for local people and provide a boost to the local economy.

The plans will be displayed at the public exhibition on Saturday 7th February from 11am until 4pm at the Shire Hall in Agincourt Square. Members of the project team will also be on hand to discuss the proposals.

"We are working with a specialist project team, who have undertaken studies on the site and held initial talks with stakeholders as the plans have been developed. If all goes well, we expect to submit a planning application in summer 2015."
