IDEAS for commemorating the 100th anniversary of Anzac day were discussed last Wednesday (28th January) at Chepstow Town Council.

It was suggested that a parade should take place from Welsh Street car park to the naval gun, followed by a reception with potential entertainment, possibly provided by the army band.

Chepstow Conservative Club proposed to hold a WWI themed dance on Saturday 25th April, but town clerk, Sandra Bushell, said: "I don't feel a dance is appropriate to commemorate Anzac Day."

Councillor Yvonne Havard said: "I am glad we are doing this, it is so important to remember those people who fought."

Anzac Day is marked on Saturday 25th April and commemorates Australians and New Zealanders who fought during World War I.
