Short‑term road closures are set to affect travel in parts of Monmouthshire this month as essential works get under way on two local routes.

A section of Bully Hole Road in Earlswood will close on May 13 between 11am and 5pm to allow poling works to be carried out safely. The closure will cover around 160 metres from the junction with the B4235. A signed diversion will be in place via the B4235, Little Coed Llifos and Bully Hole Road, with reasonable access maintained for residents.

Drivers in Shirenewton will also be affected by a closure on the C61.1 Shirenewton to Rhewl Farm road on May 11, operating from 8am to 5pm. Around 265 metres of road near Spout Hill will be closed for similar works, with a signed diversion via Spout Hill, the B4235, A466 and Mounton Road.

The council says both closures are necessary for safety and urges motorists to allow extra time for journeys.
