A PLANNING application for four shepherds huts on land at Cefn Tilla Court near Raglan has been given approval by the county planning committee.

The proposal to put four temporary huts suitable for camping between March and October attracted some concern from Raglan Community Council who pressed for details of the proposed engineering works, where the water would come from and details of power and sewage.

Richard Moorby who represents the Llandenny Ward of Raglan Community Council, spoke of their concern of the lack of information of the proposal which has come down from the original application of 30 huts to four, and said they were concerned about future growth of scheme and that was in conflict with the policies in Monmouthshire County Councils LDP that was adopted in February 2014.

In reply, Sarah Evans from Cefn Tilla Court said the four huts would be “more sympathetic with the ground” and be “eco friendly.”

She added that they want to be able to “not disturb the land”, and in response to the concern about light pollution, said the campers would “have to use torches at night”, as part of the whole camping experience.

Concerns were raised about vehicular access, formalised parking and the prospect of the development growing into something bigger, however the application was approved subject to conditions.
