Plans for a gourmet burger and snack bar in the Beaufort Shopping Mews in Monmouth are on order and have been passed on to Monmouthshire County Council with a recommendation for approval.

The premises are currently a sandwich shop which is no longer trading and plans are in place to open a burger bar, with indoor and outdoor seating with a takeaway option at the back of the shop serving customers until 9pm Sunday to Thursday and 10pm on Friday and Saturday.

The business will be founded on the basis of providing high quality food, with ingredients sourced from local suppliers. The owner stressed that this will not be a typical fast food establishment but one which aims to bring an "alternative dining and takeaway experience to Monmouth."

Once up and running, a local delivery service is also proposed as well as offering high quality cooked breakfasts from 8am.

The premises was originally called Bakery Fayre and sold hot and cold pastry products having a class A1 permission (shops hairdressers, estate agents and sandwich bars), but the plans would require a class A3 for the sale of food and drink consumed on and off the premises.

The previous business had seating outside. The plans (DM/2019/00322) require ’minor alterations’ to the premises with a frosted glass to the front and an interior stud wall.
