Motorists across Monmouthshire are being advised to plan ahead as a series of temporary road closures are scheduled throughout October to allow utility and infrastructure works to take place.

Monmouthshire County Council has announced several temporary traffic regulation orders affecting roads in Llanfair Discoed, Llangybi, Llansoy, Llangwm, Dingestow and Usk, with most of the works linked to telecommunications poling operations.

One of the first upcoming closures will affect Ysgubor Kemeys Road in Llanfair Discoed on Wednesday, October 21 from 10am to 5pm. A 75-metre section of road near Castroggi Brook will be closed to enable poling works to be carried out safely.

As the road is a no-through route, no diversion will be signed, although access will be managed by traffic operatives and maintained with short delays.

Parc Road in Llangybi is due to close on Thursday, October 22 from 8am to 5pm. The closure will affect a 345-metre stretch approximately 1.3 kilometres from the junction with the R106 Cwrt Bleddyn Hotel to Dowlais Brook road.

A signed diversion route will be in operation throughout the works.

On Friday, October 23, further closures are planned on the R71 The Crosshands to Old Quarry Road in Llansoy, Church Farm Road in Llangwm and Maryport Street in Usk.

The Llansoy closure will run from 8am to 5pm, affecting around 850 metres of roadway and requiring a signed diversion via the B4293, B4235 and several local roads.

Church Farm Road in Llangwm will also be closed from 8am to 5pm for poling works. No diversion has been arranged because the road is a no-through route, with access maintained through short delays.

In Usk, a section of Maryport Street will be closed from 9.30am to 3.30pm to allow BT works to be undertaken safely. Traffic operatives will be present to assist residents, while a signed diversion will direct drivers via Bridge Street, New Market Street and Old Market Street.

Looking further ahead, Bryngwyn Road in Dingestow is expected to close on Tuesday, October 27 from 8am to 5pm for poling and civil engineering works. A signed diversion route will be in place.

The latest notices follow recent short-term closures on roads including Tre-Herbert Road in Llandegveth, Grange Park House at Trellech Grange, Glascoed Lane in Glascoed and Black Rock Road in Portskewett.
