AN ACCIDENT involving a heavy goods vehicle blocked the A49 near Much Birch for two hours on Monday May 19th. A lorry travelling on the A49 towards Much Birch hit a telegraph pole near Llandinabo at around 11am, injuring the driver and bringing down cables. An ambulance was called, and as a precautionary measure, police closed the road and set up a diversion. The cables proved not to be electrical cables but, instead, telecom wires, and the road was soon made safe for vehicles. Another lorry had broken down in the tailback, further hampering the work to get traffic flowing; but the road was back to normal shortly before 1pm.
