RESIDENTS and staff at the Gibraltar House nursing home in Monmouth recently enjoyed celebrating Pet Day.
Studies have shown that contact with animals can bring real emotional and physical benefits to those living with dementia.
Village manager Linda Rollings explained the idea behind the event. “Our philosophy is to enable our residents to experience life to the full. We don’t think that living in a nursing home or living with dementia should reduce your quality of life at all.”
The residents were visited by rabbits, insects and even a snake.
Linda added” “Our care team work hard to improve the daily lives for those living at Gibraltar House and visitors like the pets help brighten everyone’s day.”
