The LEAF Open Farm Sunday (10th June) is back by popular demand, so make a date to visit Cherry Orchard Farm and Pentwyn Farm Nature Reserve, Penallt.

LEAF Open Farm Sunday is The Great British Farm Day and offers a unique chance to see what happens beyond the farm gate and show your support for British farming.

This is your opportunity to speak with Helen and Ash Beale and Gwent Wildlife Trust and find out all about what farming and nature conservation involves. At Cherry Orchard Farm, meet the cows and their easycare pet lambs Cami and Samy, have a wander, see the activities, and enjoy the natural beauty with some refreshments. There is a limited bar from noon, real ale from local brewery, local cider and perry and locally produced wine. Soft drinks also available for children and drivers and tea and coffee. Entry is free, but there will be charges for refreshments

Cherry Orchard Farm is a family owned suckler cow unit nestled in the Wye Valley. They produce their own beef from their pedigree herd of Galloway cows, right. In 2018 the farm joined the Glastir scheme, the Welsh government environmental scheme and with it comes five hectares of permissive access, picnic tables, hedge restoration and woodland preservation.

As well as producing nutritious food, farmers also grow crops for medicines and clothes, as well as crops used for fuel and building homes. Together farmers care for over 70 per cent of the British countryside, manage vital resources like water and soil, maintain miles of footpaths and hedgerows and provide homes for wildlife.
